The leap in the advanced computing has allowed the scientists from the USA to create world’s first therapeutic venom database. The database consists of entries of venoms from over 173,000 animal species and their effects on human body. The scientists think that it will aid in the research for new cures on a various disease. “What can’t kill you, may cure you”, the scientists from the USA thought. This has driven them to create a database of known animal venoms and their documented effects on human body.
The data scientists from Columbia University, USA created an open-source database known as VenomKB (Venom Knowledge Base). The database holds the results of over 5117 medical studies associated with animal venoms. The studies have described the potential use of animal venoms as a therapeutic agents.
