Dry eye disease (DED) affects the ocular surface and has several contributing factors. It is closely associated with computer vision syndrome that results from the prolonged use of visual display terminals (VDTs) and is characterized by several ocular and non-ocular symptoms. In addition, various etiological and pathophysiological mechanisms contribute to this damage.
Therefore, the prevention and treatment of this condition should be based on the underlying components of dry eye. Here’s a video that gives a brief on DED and CVS and highlights the connection between digital screen use and DED. The mechanism, diagnosis, signs, symptoms, prevention and treatment of these conditions as well as meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and goblet cell dysfunction will be discussed.
