The recent flash strike by the medical residents in government medical colleges in Maharashtra is just a reflection of the deeper rot from which medical education is ailing . Residents have valid grounds for complaining when their professors fail to teach them. After all, teaching is a core part of the professor's duty, and junior doctors do need someone to hold their hand when you're learning to operate on patients. However, laying the entire blame on the teachers is not acceptable.
Medical residents are adult students and cannot afford to be so dependent on their teachers and professors. They should not expect to be spoon fed, and there are lots of additional options they can explore in their quest to master medical skills.
