Dengue shock syndrome (DSS) is one of the important causes of morbidity and hospitalization in Asian children, with up to 500,000 cases reported annually. This condition may result in multiorgan failure due to increased vascular permeability, myocardial dysfunction, and dehydration (1). At present, careful monitoring and proper administration of fluids remain the mainstay of the management of DSS (2).
