A 27-year-old obese Caucasian man presented with intermittent heartburn and substernal chest discomfort. Apart from hypertension, his history, physical and laboratory examination were unremarkable.

Investigations revealed edema, decreased vascularity, longitudinal furrows and white exudate on the lower and mid esophagus, with eosinophilic infiltration.
