What should be the response of Hospital Administration and Medical Superintendent to a request from the attendees of a critically ill patient on ventilatory support to discharge the patient on request and drop them at home with life support system in a rural area where relatives have gathered for final darshan of their dear one while he or she is still alive? Should it be accepted on humanitarian grounds?
Will it amount to culpable homicide when life support is withdrawn after reaching the destination? What is the existing legal or ethical status of such philanthropic act?
