A very recently published data suggest that about 25 million people, including children, die due to serious pain, which could have been relieved by a few cents per dose of morphine. The data also indicates that in middle and low-income countries, the majority of people deny receiving any pain relief. On the other hand, opioid abuse is a common killer in rich nations.
