Every profession is attended with stress and tension though to different degrees. Further the personality, socioeconomic background, individual perceptions, etc., make the stress tolerable or not. Generally it is agreed that medical profession is stressful. Any occupation, profession can lead to a condition known as Burnout Syndrome (BS). It pertains to mainly three components - Exhaustion, Depersonalization and Lack of feeling of personal accomplishment. The person feels physically and emotionally exhausted.

The person is not sure of his competence, loses confidence of  doing his best in cases. The person has a poor opinion of personal achievement. The person works with the case in a very detached manner. In short the person approaches the day and case with insufficient confidence, a kind of dread.
