A doctor from a reputed private hospital has filed a complaint that his and the hospital’s names and photos are being misused on social media platforms for inviting sale of organs. An FIR has been registered under the IT Act at the police station. In his complaint, the doctor has claimed to have discovered a fake social media profile in his name, inviting people to contact him if they wish to sell their organs, including kidneys for USD 4,50,000. The fake profile also displays emails Id’s and 3-4 contact numbers which are not his, along with his photo taken from the official website of the hospital.
So now, not only the doctors are assaulted but their names are also used for organ trades and other illegal purposes. Such instances put the doctors and the hospital's reputation at the stake. What measures should be taken by doctors to avoid such instances?
