A cardiac surgery team at a private super specialty hospital in Noida has performed a complex surgery on a patient who presented with hoarseness in his voice. The patient consulted a cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon at the hospital regarding his unusual symptom. After conducting several tests, the surgeon found an orange-sized aortic aneurysm in the patient’s main aorta.
A coronary angiogram also revealed blockages in two major arteries carrying blood to the heart, which can potentially cause a heart attack. To resolve this life-threatening condition, the cardiac surgery team decided to perform a surgery in three stages, including conducting an off-pump coronary artery bypass, reinforcing the aorta with an endograft to supply blood directly into the lower part of the body, and creating a new blood supply to the brain by placing artificial tubes.
