Junior doctors at a hospital in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, have temporarily suspended their strike for a week following the Director of Medical Education (DME)’s assurance to arrange a meeting with the State’s Special Chief Secretary. Junior doctors were on strike for two days after a patient’s relatives assaulted a junior doctor. The patient was a 54-year-old male who had ingested glyphosate ammonium poison and was admitted to the hospital’s emergency department (ED). The on-duty junior ED doctor evaluated his vitals and found his condition was critical.

After informing the patient’s family, the junior doctor transferred the patient to ICU. However, within an hour, the patient died due to cardiac arrest.
