DoH Partners with a US Firm to Establish UAE’s First Eye and Tissue Bank

The Department of Health, Abu Dhabi (DoH), the regulator of the healthcare sector in the Emirate, and a US-based medical firm have partnered to establish the UAE’s first Eye and Tissue Bank. This partnership will foster the creation, development, and operation of a comprehensive and coherent eye transplantation framework in the UAE. Objectives of the collaboration: The establishment will provide a critical resource to around one million people in the Middle East region who have corneal blindness, including more than 12,000 people in the UAE alone.
