In my vast practice in India and now Dubai, I have observed many cases of liver injury by findings of raised liver enzymes in blood profile by use of drugs like Paracetamol, Statins, Isoniazid (INH), Rifampicin, Anabolic Steroids, Chlorpromazine and amocycillin-Clavulanate. Though there are many other offending drugs but most commonly prescribed antibiotic Amoxycillin-Clavulanate in practice is also culprit in acute liver injury. Statins nowadays overprescribed for cardiovascular related high LDL Issues must be priorly tested for Liver Function to avoid liver injury.
Paracetamol, a widely prescribed and safest drug usually has liver toxicity when given for more than 2 weeks in higher doses than normal.
