The drug price control act first promulgated in 1995 did get some relief to poor and middle class people. But with the liberalization regime - this act is leading to some problems and hardships. Prices of some essential drugs has been reduced to an extent where it is not feasible for a company to sell and they run into losses. The end result is pharma company stop manufacturing these medicines and they disappear from the market.

To beat this act- pharma companies combine it with some other salt and combination product enter into the market .When even if this does not work some new salts come in- which is a minor variation from the original salt but new studies and new data is interpolated to show that it is working better.
