During the launch of the Tuberculosis-Free India Campaign, Prime minister Narendra Modi said “ India would completely eliminate TB by 2025”, well before the global deadline of 2030. After this, government is taking major steps in diagnosis and treatment of TB across the country. Current Scenario: According to a Health Ministry notification, doctors, health workers, and the pharmacist could be jailed for up to two years for failing to report cases of TB to health authorities. This initiative was taken to increase involvement from private hospitals, as many patients seek treatment from them.
