Dry eye is very common ophthalmic condition found in patients due to an inadequate supply of tears. A study recently published has linked dry eye to chronic pain syndrome. The condition is evident by the symptoms such as itchy eye, painful sensation or even redness.
If this condition is left untreated, it may lead to inflammation and subsequent development of scars and ulcers on the cornea. The eyes also become hypersensitive to light and external stimuli.
