we had a 5 year old child who presented with a 4 day hx of sl loose stools than usual about 2-3 times a day( normally would do once a day formed stools earier) with one episode of fever 39 during those 4 days with feeling nauseaus everyday for those 4 days in the morning just before going to nursery. Keeping in mind that the child previously had a hx of worms in the stools about 4 months back ( when he was dewormed with 3 courses over the past 3 months), the mother send off his stool sample for culture which came back with e coli and it was sensitive for a few abx. We did not commence abx as his symptoms had abated by the 7 th day.
He also had some bloods done which were normal should we have treated him with abx or not? We did not having HUS in our minds
