The influence of antithyroid drugs (ATDs) on the therapeutic efficacy of radioactive iodine in hyperthyroidism is still unclear. This publication evaluates the effects of ATD discontinuation on the therapeutic efficacy of radioactive iodine in hyperthyroidism patients with long-term ATD treatment. Graves’ disease (GD) is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism. The treatment modalities for GD include ATDs, radioactive iodine, and thyroidectomy.
