In the context of EHR, the government of India is planning to introduce a uniform system for the maintenance of EHR for the health care service providers. The ‘national health portal' with definitive guidelines will make all the available data portable, easily accessible and transferable. With the implementation of EHR, interestingly, patients will be the owner of their own health data and the service provider will only be the custodian. This obviously poses few questions to medical fraternity: Do you think that implementation of EHR will improve the health care system?
With the present infrastructure and digital education of medical community will it be possible to properly implement such policy? Will the easy accessibility of data to patient compromise the confidentiality of classified clinical data? Please share your opinion.
