I got a lady 3 days postpartum after her first childbirth at home by dai with retained urine. UB up to above umbilicus. On examination observed a bad perineal tear posterior as well as up to urethra. Under GA tears repaired. Indwelling cath was given for 10 days and the wounds healed, the cath was removed. Retention urine recurred, re-catherised, antibiotics continued for 15 days, cath removed when passed urine once retention urine recurred.
Re-catheterized. How to proceed. What may be the reason? Is it neural damage? Please advise.
