The current article discusses several applications of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) that have transformed the approach from traditional surgical management to noninvasive endoscopy. Celiac Plexus Interventions EUS-guided celiac plexus block (EUS-CPB) and EUS-guided celiac plexus neurolysis (EUS-CPN) are technically identical involving injection of local anesthetic. However, triamcinolone is used for EUS-CPB and absolute alcohol for EUS-CPN. One injection of triamcinolone and bupivacaine has been shown to provide the same duration and onset of pain relief as 2 injections during a single EUS-CPB procedure.
