Dear all, Please enlighten the knowledge of this group on following questions related to the ' Informed Consent ', particularly in the context of our country. Q.1: If an adult patient is unfit for giving a consent, what would be the order of priority for choosing anyone from his/her relatives (like spouse/ adult son or daughter/ parents/ adult brother or sister etc.)? Q.2: If an unconscious patient is not accompanied by any of his/her relatives, what is the correct process for getting a consent before performing any emergency life-saving procedure ? Q.3: Once signed by any patient/ relative, a consent (to perform some procedure) will remain valid for how much duration ?
Q. 4: What is the rule for obtaining a consent from a child of age between 12 to 18 years ? Please share your valuable opinion on as many questions as you can.
