According to a report by the National Aids Control Organisation (NACO), at least 2,234 Indians have been infected with HIV while receiving blood transfusions in hospitals in the past 17 months alone. This news has come out as a really shocking revelation for the country. The information was revealed by the NACO in response to a petition filed by an information activist. As a matter of fact, more than two million people in India are suffering from HIV/AIDS. Going by this NACO report, Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of patients ( 361 cases ) who had been infected with HIV as a consequence of contaminated blood in hospitals.
