The orthopedic implants racket runs deep in the state. After Mumbai, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials have seized illegal implant stock of worth Rs. 12 Lakh from Pune, Satara and Solapur just in 3 days. An orthopedic implant is used to replace missing joints or bones or to support damaged bones. On 7 th February, illegal implants were seized in Mumbai.

And just three days after, the state-wide drive has detected illegal sale of orthopedic implants was kicked off. In all these cases, it was found that these implants supplied to hospitals by distributors were unlicensed. The drug inspector who has carried the raid in Pune seized the stock of orthopedic implant at the flat of the distributor in Kothrud on Monday.
