An illegal abortion , prenatal sex determination, and female feticide racket operated between Kolhapur in Maharashtra and Mahalingpur in Bagalkot has been busted by the Maharashtra police. The crime came to light when the police discovered the body of a victim transported to her native in a car during their routine patrol. Following the investigation, the police were shocked to find the female feticide network in Mahalingpur. The victim was a mother of two daughters. She learned that she was pregnant with a third female child after undergoing a scan. Subsequently, she opted for female feticide.
