The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and lungs. Worldwide, an estimated 5-15% of the population is affected and about 50,000 to 500,000 suffer influenza-related deaths every year. An early diagnosis and prompt treatment are need of the present that may halt the influenza-associated complications.

To address these consequences Australian researchers have developed a world’s first high-risk influenza screen test (HIST) that may detect any flu infection. Considering this, will implementation of HIST help in the effective management of H1N1 outbreaks in India?
