Recently Medical Council Of India (MCI), decided to add prescribing generic medicine in capital letters, in MCI code of conduct for registered doctors. Indian Medical Association (IMA) seems to be inactive over this issue and this inaction in long term will break one leg of Indian medicine forever if not contested today. All of us know very well that some generics and some brands of medicine do not work at all. Leaving this discretion of deciding company of his choice to medical store who has no interest in cure of patient except money making is a major blow to us.
