Highlights · Dry eye disease (DED) is a heterogenous ocular distress affecting 75% of adults, most often women. · Evaporative dry eye (EDE) occurs due to meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), blink abnormality, mucin deficiency, reduced aqueous layer volume and content, and contact lens wear.
· Correct diagnosis, treatment, and management of the disorder are conducted as per the pathophysiology of EDE. · Lipid-based nanoemulsion eye drops help improve the lipid layer like natural tears and can be used in EDE management.
