The strong debate going on in healthcare industry about the sustainability of small hospitals and nursing homes. There are many reasons behind it, but the major one is an entry of corporate groups in hospital sector which created concerns among the practicing clinicians. But I feel it will definitely trigger the growth of small hospital instead. Reasons: Cost of treatment in corporate hospital is far more inflated. It is due to high cost incurred while setting up infra Still, there is the huge vacuum in demand and supply in primary and secondary care.
Most of the patients went in corporate group are for tertiary care. Proving primary and secondary care is not the good business opportunity for corporate till date. Rendering immediate need is not feasible due to commuting issues in metros. Rather patient will prefer healthcare facility near to them and be setting big hospital in each area…
