Generic medicines, are those drugs as good as branded medicine? If Generic Medicines are as effective as brand names, then why we doctors do not prescribe those medicine?? What are Pros & Cons of Generic Medicine?

Should we write Generic medicine (because of cost effectiveness) for rural or poor people?? Please share your views on this matter.
