A meta-analysis of patients with type 2 diabetes and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction reported that GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy was associated with lower all-cause mortality and fewer major cardiovascular events over approximately five years of follow-up. Benefits appeared additive to standard heart failure therapies, suggesting GLP-1RAs may be underused in this high-risk group. The analysis reinforces guideline moves toward integrating cardioprotective glucose-lowering agents into routine HF–diabetes co-management.
