Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the commonest solid lesion within the kidney and accounts for approximately 90% of all kidney malignancies. It includes different RCC types with specific histopathological and genetic characteristics. The current guidelines by European Association of Urology provide urologists evidence-based information and recommendations for the management of renal cell cancer.
The key recommendations from the guideline are as follows: The most common etiological factors include lifestyle such as smoking, obesity, and hypertension. And hence according to the guideline, the most important primary prevention for RCC is to eliminate cigarette smoking and to reduce obesity.
