The pelvi-ureteric junction (PUJ) Obstruction is the most common pathological cause of neonatal hydronephrosis. The following points should be noted on antenatal ultrasonography - AP diameter of the pelvis, whether it is unilateral or bilateral, echogenicity of the kidney, dimension of the ureter, volume of the bladder and the volume of the amniotic fluid.
