A ccording to a recent survey finding of Canadian Medical Association, approximately 60% of OB-GYNs are women. Likewise, similar reports have been observed worldwide that implicate an unprecedented shift in the balance between female and male gynecologists over the past 20 years. In 2012, 50% of Canada`s OB-GYNs were women while today, it's 58%. Likewise, in the US, 59% gynecologists are female. Further, the findings indicate that 84% residents in Canada and 83% of OB-GYN residents in the US are women- implicating that eventually, men could disappear from the field entirely.
It is predicted that by the year 2025, two out of every three obstetricians will be women. One of the major factors is patient preference.
