With the air quality index skyrocketing in our capital, Delhi, there has been an increased risk of air pollution-related diseases. On this line, the Union Health Minister, Harsh Vardhan has recently urged everyone to consume maximum amounts of carrots to tackle the diseases related to air pollution. The health official stressed on the positive characteristics of carrots by focusing on its nutritive values like vitamin A, potassium, and antioxidants. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), in 2014, globally 3.7 million premature deaths occur due to ambient air pollution.
It is one of the largest environmental risk factors.
