Head and neck cancers remain the leading cause of mortality in Indian males and females. One single cause being the usage of tobacco and its various forms that route through the head and neck areas. The new discovery that HPV is responsible for these cancers too and HPV tests are becoming mandatory in developed countries for all oropharyngeal cancers poses a new financial challenge for poor Indian. In this regard, every year Sept 12th is observed as cancer awareness on head and neck cancers.
