In hypothyroidism, an important observation is made by me. I have searched the literature in Net and find no info on this.Whenever a patient with hoarseness of voice as a part of the hypothyroid state is noted, TSH level is always above 150 marks than normal irrespective of the units in which it is measured and reported. So, hoarseness of voice denotes the extreme form of hypothyroidism and any doctor coming across such patients should convince the patient to undergo TFT and start the treatment earlier for the betterment of patients.
Only in one case, I came across NHL in the chest and as a paraneoplastic syndrome hypothyroidism with hoarseness of voice. So hoarseness noted during conversation helps to identify hypothyroidism of severe nature and confirmed by TFT. In a group of 100 patients to be screened for Hypothyroidism, hoarseness helps to identify Hypothyroidism very quickly.…
