According to TOI(27/3,internet) a Mumbai doctor was asked to pay Rs.19 lakhs for his absence during delivery by the consumer court recently.. A woman ,lost her infant hours after birth during delivery due to the absence and late arrival of doctor as nurse conducted the delivery.At bthe time of delivery there was cord round the neck and post mortem revealed the infant died of asphyxia.
I fail to understand why the doctor had not conducted CS inview of cord round the neck which can be observed in USG as there is definite risk of asphyxia in such cases.
