A homeopathy practitioner from Mumbai with a sizable social media following has been arrested in Chennai for allegedly performing minor ear surgeries from a temporary setup inside a hotel. Police also detained her assistant after a raid by Teynampet authorities at the makeshift clinic. Officials said the practitioner was offering procedures such as ear piercing and repair of torn earlobes, commonly known as auroplasty.

Investigators noted that although the procedure is considered minor, it is usually performed by trained specialists in properly equipped medical facilities. Medical associations had raised concerns that these interventions were being conducted without the required qualifications, approvals, or clinical infrastructure.
