Smallpox has been eradicated globally. Guinea worm disease and Polio has also been eradicated from India. Country is free from Yaws (non-venereal treponematosis) and tetanus neonatorum. Kala-azar, lymphatic filariasis and leprosy elimination is on way. Now can we think of malaria elimination?
Plasmodium falciparum is sensitive to ACT and P.vivax to chloroquine as on date in India. Malaria is highly prevalent in tribal areas in Central and NE states and is perceived as a common problem. How can medical fraternity help in this endeavour? Kindly suggest.
