Brachytherapy is a form of radiotherapy where radioactive sources or devices are placed near tumors to deliver high doses of radiation to treat them. Brachytherapy involves the administration of higher doses of radiation to the affected regions of the body and reduces unnecessary exposure to the surrounding organs. As the distance increases from the emitting source, the radiation dose rapidly declines, known as the inverse square law. The most common isotopes used in brachytherapy are Iridium 192, Cobalt-60, Iodine-125, and Palladium-103.
