An 82-year-old woman is admitted to the ICU for presumed urosepsis. Her initial blood pressure is 80/50 mm Hg, heart rate is 110 beats/minute, and oxygen saturation is 100% on 2 L nasal cannula. Urine, blood, and sputum cultures were drawn in the emergency department. Her hemodynamics improve to 120/80 mm Hg and heart rate of 80 bpm after administration of 2 L of normal saline and remain stable.
