Case Scenario A 50-year-old female was recommended for the examination of a 1 mm width of a single longitudinal erythematous streak on the left thumbnail that had constantly widened in the last three years. The patient had complained of dull pain particularly while picking small objects. Investigation Distal onycholysis and splinter hemorrhages accompanied by a solitary hyperkeratotic papule on the hyponychium were noted (refer fig. 1).
To aid diagnosis and relieve pain, nail plate extraction, and a longitudinal excisional biopsy was performed from the nail bed to the matrix. Histological Examination No significant changes were marked in the nail matrix. The nail bed epithelium marked foremost papillomatosis and acanthosis.
