A two-year-old toddler was presented with a history of continuous high-grade fever with chills and rigors. He also had whitish-colored, non-smelling sputum. History The baby was delivered by C-section and weighed 2.75 kg after birth. Other observations The baby had swelling on the face, which initially started around the peri-orbital area and gradually progressed to the face. The parents reported that the swelling was more in the morning and decreased in the evening. Investigations The baby had decreased urine output.
He weighed 15 kgs during the presentation. Lower limbs showed pitting type of edema. Laboratory findings A laboratory assessment revealed โ A C3 level of 0.638 g/L (reference interval 0.9-1.8 g/L).
