A consortium led by Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore, in collaboration with IIIT Hyderabad's Language Technologies Research Centre (LTRC), has developed "BandhuCare," a multilingual AI companion designed to strengthen communication between cancer patients and clinicians outside the hospital setting. The platform enables patients to ask routine post-treatment questions in their preferred language, report symptoms through natural conversations, maintain health journals, and communicate using both text and voice.
Rather than relying solely on patients' recollection during follow-up visits, BandhuCare converts these interactions into structured clinical summaries and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), providing clinicians with a clearer understanding of patients' health between appointments.
