While sensationalist titles like this are likely to sell very well, sometimes we need to worry about the impact this will have on the doctor-patient relationship. While the intent of the book may be good, and I agree that we need to highlight some of the malpractices which riddle the medical profession today, by using emotionally charged words like predators to describe doctors, this book will cause even more harm to the fragile trust between doctors and patients, which is the heart of healing. While it is great that doctors are finally speaking up against the bad apples within the system, I also think a more thoughtful temperate approach would have been far more valuable.
By painting all doctors as being crooks, the authors are further widening the gap between doctors and patients. This is perhaps the final nail in the coffin of the doctor-patient relationship, which was first hammered…
