Following the ordinance of dissolving MCI, The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has demanded that the election process of MCI should be allowed to continue as the composition of the Board of Governors (BOG) was unacceptable. The IMA Action Committee, condemned the supersession of MCI terming the government's move, at the time when the election to MCI has been announced. Also, IMA oppose the National Medical Commission Bill (NMC) 2017, which is already pending in parliament. The bill seeks to replace MCI with National Medical Commission.
Telangana IMA president Dr T. Narsinga Reddy stated that “ The dissolution of the committee comes at a time when new members were to be appointed. The government intends to introduce the NMC Bill and pass it in Parliament.
