The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has decided to mark 1st to 8th July as 'Safe Fraternity Week' on the basis of the theme of Doctor’s Day 2018, 'zero tolerance to violence against doctors and clinical establishment'. National president of IMA stated that , “ Illiteracy, lack of knowledge about healthcare, diseases, natural history of illnesses, unreasonable expectations, political backing for vested interests and anger against government mismanagement of healthcare are responsible for the violence against doctors ”. He also mentioned that the frustration among the people due to exponential rise in the cost of healthcare has been a reason for such violence.
