In my region I feel annoyed seeing the level of malpractice. What is more disturbing is to see majority of hysterectomies being done for no real indication. Most of the females are in there 30s and most of them have PID or have complains of vague lower abdominal pain.Most of these females end up with a TAH+BSO.
I feel this is due to increased number of quacks who misguide innocent patients saying that it is better to get the uterus removed once the family is complete or that it may turn cancerous if surgery is delayed and what not :( I think the problem lies in illiteracy and to some extent a few doctors who indulge in such practice for a meagre amount of money, because no matter how much the quack convinces it is ultimately the doctor who is operating on such non indicated cases.
