A nationwide survey on determining the epidemiology of dengue will be launched by the Indian government soon. Last year, the government’s apex body rejected the only vaccine against dengue available globally for its use in India as there was no evidence to prove the efficacy in the Indian population. In this context, the survey will collect all the information related to dengue to determine the epidemiology of the disease. As per government data, 1,11,000 cases were reported and 227 people lost their lives to the mosquito-borne infection in the year 2016.
